Mini and Junior Home

Details

Mini and junior rugby at Bromsgrove RFC covers age groups under 6’s to under 17’s. Our emphasis is on enjoyable, safe rugby, in a friendly environment and new players of all abilities are always welcome at BRFC.

We have over 330 mini and junior registered players at Bromsgrove and over 70 parent volunteers involved in all aspects of the club from coaching through to club and team administration. The core rugby values of teamwork, respect, enjoyment, discipline and sportsmanship is at the heart of Bromsgrove RFC.

We follow the RFU Continuum under which the game of rugby is introduced in stages starting with 7-a-side non-contact tag rugby at under 6’s all the way through to full-contact 15-a-side rugby by under 13’s. Age groups are determined by the player’s age on 1st September of that season and boys and girls play rugby in the same team up to and including under 12’s.

Training is at Finstall Park, Finstall Road, Bromsgrove on Sundays from 10am-12pm. The 2011/12 season starts with Registration Day on 4th September 2011 and the last day of the season is 29th April 2012. There is hot food available for the players after training and home fixtures and the clubhouse shop is open on Saturdays and Sundays for all kit and equipment needs. All fixtures can be found on the website.

All age groups have a qualified first aider, an administrator, RFU qualified coaches and RFU qualified referees. All volunteers in contact with the mini and junior players are CRB checked and BRFC operates within the RFU’s Safeguarding Children framework and guidelines.

All players and spectators are expected to adhere to the RFU’s Code of Conduct which emphasises the traditional values of rugby including respect for the opposition and match officials. A parent or guardian is expected to stay with their child throughout training or a match.

The mini and junior section at Bromsgrove RFC is thriving with a large playing membership, lots of families with players in different age groups, a fantastic number of parent volunteers (and there is always room for more – please ask if you would like to join in and ‘do your bit’!) and a number of parent and family social events throughout the season.
